Hi there! I'm Mrs Murals (Ellie Johnson) and I’m based in Plymouth, Devon, UK.

I completed five years of full-time study in Fine Art at both college and university, earning a Foundation Diploma and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree. During my studies, I was always encouraged to think creatively—and with permission, even experimented by sketching on walls.

After graduation, I travelled and worked abroad, soaking up inspiration from different cultures and the beauty I encountered around the world. When I returned home, I channelled that inspiration into wall painting, which quickly became a passion.

Mrs Murals was born during a period of big life changes: I had a one-year-old son, was expecting another child, and had just been made redundant from my office job. I needed a part-time job to help cover childcare costs—and I'm grateful to say my business took off right from the start!

​

Since then, I have worked on a range of exciting projects, growing from painting private homes and small businesses to creating large-scale artworks in public spaces. I’ve collaborated with major organisations, schools, local councils, and community groups to enhance and brighten public areas. Some of these partners include National Trust, NHS, Plymouth City Council, Plymouth City Centre Company, West End Plymouth, The Broadway Shopping Centre, Drake Circus (The Barcode), and Brixham Future CIC. Locally, Crown and Dulux Decorating Centres support my work, ensuring I use only top-quality paints for my clients.

Bringing colour and positivity into people's lives through art brings me great joy. After the recent pandemic, I am even more passionate about supporting others, as I truly believe art can evoke emotions and uplift spirits. I regularly support charities through my business and I strive to be eco-conscious, always working as ethically, sustainably, and environmentally responsibly as possible.
